DON'T WAIT UNTIL IT'S DOWN A FULL QUART. INCREASE THE FREQUENCY OF YOUR INPSECTIONS AS FOUND IN HE OWNER'S MANUAL..

, fill up when you're down at least 1/2 quart. waiting till its down one full quart can be detrimental to a highrevving motor like the f20c.

I have 37.5K miles on MY01 and I drive relatively hard. I usually end up adding 1/2 quart every 1000-1500 miles. with this car, it is important to check your oil every/every other fill up.

As stated in someone's post above, I never let it go down more than a 1/2 quart.

I bought my car w/ 8 miles. All the way through break-in I lost nothing. After break-in I began to drive the car harder, still no oil loss. After ~1200 miles I began to test the car even more; I felt that no oil loss perhaps suggested I wasn't "enjoying" the car enough. At 3,750 I switched to Mobil 1-SS. At 7,100 + change, I went for oil change number 2, still no losses in between. Now approaching my third oil change, I barely added .5 quart at 9100 last week. Overall, I've deduced it to my consistent my warm ups, always two bars before I think about touching the shifter. This goes for anything from first start, to my journey home after the "The Return of the King" .

Anyhow, I think we need a poll to help us figure this out. Something like:

1. use synthetics & still lose
2. use syn's & don't lose
3. warm their car up to at least two bars before driving and still lose
4. warm their car up to at least two bars before driving and don't lose
5. warm their car up for around a minute (as instructed in the manual), and lose
6. warm their car up for around a minute (as instructed in the manual), and don't lose

Something like this might be helpful...? Should only be new-car buyers since only they can know the entire history of the vehicle and offer somewhat useful data. I installed CAI last, so I hope the lesser need to VTEC much past 7K rpm will help me return to zero losses. CAI quickly helped me understand the philosophy behind the 2.2L set-up, who needs the air up there if there is plenty down below.. The AP1 simply represents what Honda can do, it is also drenched with Honda heritage, more than any other vehicle manufactured by the big H. Back to the poll idea...

Seems like a lotta work (taking poll), it's just oil. Keep the oil filled, add a little every few weeks, Done - now go out and enjoy the car.

for me.. dosn't use any oil when I don't VTEC.. the more I VTEC the more it uses.. also, it dosn't hurt the engine at all to run it lower on oil.. UNLESS it's so low that the oil pickup starts picking up air when your cornering hard.. then your going to hurt stuff..

Well this past Sunday I checked my oil because I haven't in a while because I was not losing any oil. I was surprised I had to add a quart. I was paranoid about it all day but then again, it's only a quart. If it was like three quarts then I would be very worried. I guess I can't switch to synthetic oil yet. But I will keep a closer eye on my oil level from now on.
