My new cupholder.

My new cupholder.
I've never liked putting a cup in the stock cup holder. It gets in my way when shifting (and I'm not totally comfortable with holding my wrist in that "girlie-man" configuration when doing so ).
It swivels in all directions to be more spill-proof.
Anyway, here's what I got:
Installed on car:
When not needed:
I only need a cup holder when I'm on a road trip and I usually travel alone, so no passenger to worry about. But even with a passenger, they'll live since they're getting a free ride anyway.

seems like it would be a bitch to actually take a drink and get it in that little notch, btw: does it lock into position or can it tilt upside down, just outta curiousity...

So UGLY! lol
Anything can be powdercoated, polished or anodized. I am sure the purpose of this thread was to share an innovative answer to an issue that frustrates many s2000 owners. The stock cupholder is awkwardly placed. Other than serving as a change receptacle, it make shifting uncomfortable with anything larger than a medium sized cup. The lack of cupholders - though not an issue for all, has been addressed in the '04's. Similar to many threads xviper has started or contributed to in the past, this thread was intended as an inspiration to the creatively challenged or mechanically impaired. Which do you fall under?
Thanks for sharing Dave.

I can't take any credit for the design. They sell them here:

The blue thing is an oscillating alarm light.

The cord does not need to be used. It's for the really extreme situations like when installed in a Jeep during rock crawling. Yes, it can go upside down should the car end up that way. It does not lock. I don't think it should be difficult to get a cup in and out. That front brace is adjustable.
Moonshine glass? Well, not exactly. I think it's just a jam jar I had laying around. I used it simply to "model" the holder.
I suppose "beauty" is in the eye of the beholder as is "ugly". I wasn't bucking for an award with "Ladies Home Decorating". I just wanted someplace else to put a cup when I'm travelling that doesn't interfere with the shifting.
