Default MY MY01 w/ 20k and already replaced the battery???

I have an 01' w/ only 20k on it and the battery had to be replaced b/c the dealerships test said it was bad. Has anyone else replaced their battery so soon?

FYI it cost me aprox 45$ to replace it trading my old one in w/ a 5 year warranty.

I don't think you should have had to replace your battery this soon. Did the dealership give a reason why it needed to be replaced? Were you having problems with it before?

I could be wrong but......I don't think battery life has anything to do with milage. Don't they usually rate them in months?

Battery life is dependant on mileage. If you don't do plenty of long miles it'll die quicker.

I don't put a lot of Kms on my car. 40,000K in over 4 years. And many of my trips are up to the shops and back. The drain on the battery from two starts greatly excedes the recharging from only 5Kms of driving. A net loss.

I was constantly going out to my car after three or four days and finding the battery dead. I had to replace my battery after about 1.5 years.

The solution was to hot wire the power outlet (what we used to call the cigarette lighter in a less PC age) so that is was always connected to the battery, even with the ignition off (see Modifry's web site for how to do this) and then I installed a power conditioner (not just a charger) in the roof of my garage with an elasticated coil wire with a plug on the end.

Now when I drive into my garage I just reach above my head and pull the cord down and plug it into the power socket. My battery is always fully charged.

After leaving the radio on for less than 10 minutes, the car wouldn't start unless or sometimes it would be a rough start. Now w/ the new battery.. it's PERRRfect haha...

Battery life has a lot to do with the owner, the amount of driving, how much the power is used w/o the alternator running, etc......

Most of my cars in the past always managed to kill thier batteries in a few years. Consider it like tires, they are a consumable resource, if you had a warrantee good for you, you didn't have to pay as much

Battery life in harsh climates can matter. Here in So. Florida, it is not unusual for a battery to last only 2 years. If it goes 3 years, your'e on borrowed time. 4 years is nothing last than a miricle.
