Cool My Mugen header review

So the Mugen went on last Friday and I must say that I'm rather impressed.

I had wanted to Dyno before and after but didn't end up having the time. I think that once the exhaust gets here and once I have it and the test pipe on, I'll do a dyno then and post that.

The car feels stronger throughout the entire powerband with the most noticeable gain right between 5 and 6K RPM.

The difference is just barely noticeable except around 5/6K where there is no doubt about it.

In addition chirps shifting to second come much easier now as does sliding the ass out on a 1/2 shift around a corner from a light. In order to slide the rear out on an upshift I used to have to be much higher up in the rpm range (which felt unnatural) but now just shifting normally and being heavy on the gas gets the expected result.

So far I'm very happy and can't wait to see what it feels like once I finish the setup.

The only problem I'm having is a slight hissing sound that wasn't there before. That could just be the sound of the header (I think it is) but at first I was wondering if I didn't have and exhaust leak. the strange thing is it seems to fade somewhat once the car is fully warmed up. It could be that my ears just get used to it though. It kind of sounds like I'm just hearing the gasses flow through the new thinner header.

All in all I give it

Don't these two statements pretty much contradict one another?

I'm glad you like it, but I'm confused.

Just got mine 2 weeks ago and there's definite power in the midrange. No hissing on my end though unless Fuji exhaust noise covering that up. Plus is the heatshield for Cali folks. Had Fuji header before it gave more topend power than midend but I like Mugen better.

No, they don't.

The car is stronger throughout but it is slight everywhere but at midrange where it is obvious.

Even a gain that you feel only slightly is a good gain as it takes quite a decent gain to be able to feel it through the but dyno.

Are Mugen and J's header's generally accepted as being the top headers for the S2k? How does the Rick's header compare?

the wooshing sound is caused by the thinner walls of the header.

Thanks for the info. I'll be waiting to hear your impressions again once you install your mugen exhaust. Enjoy!
