Default My Most Expensive Mod Yet!

I've decided that I need to bite the bullet and buy a second car. I would like to get something that would be functional (hauling friends & stuff as well as be able to get me around in the bad weather) and dependable. I'm thinking that a Subaru wagon or a Toyota Camry wagon would be ideal. My price range is around $2,500 so I figure that I will have to buy something from the early 90's. Any suggestions or advice on making this purchase?

P.S. Very ironic that I was embarrassed to drive around mom's station wagon when I was 16 and now here I am shopping for one of my own.

A wagon? Ick

I use a 4x4 pickup for my foul weather/functional vehicle.

Subaru Wagon all the way....
I owned a legacy (1993) only problems I had with it was because of the years/miles put on it---> new brakes, spark plugs, tires.
no real problems I can recall, always started up in the NY cold, I would thrash it through snow piles, good pic-up for such a large car and 4-banger. All I can say about it that i didn't like was It was a wagon, it and all like it start to rust where the rear bumper meets the body, and it was a automatic.

one more thing good AC and good heat.

I also would try to find a 4x4 truck/suv rather than a wagon.

I have a truck, but it ran a LITTLE bit more than $2500. I would go for a truck if I were in your boat.

I'm 28 years old now.

I thought the wagon would be a better choice over a pick-up truck because anything that I had to haul would be protected from weather and casual thieves (I sometimes DJ for my brother when he has two events on the same day).

I would prefer a SUV (such as a CRV) but there are none to be found for my price range.

Get an Accord station wagon. They are great. You can find a 92 for about $3000 nowadays.

Get a burgundy one if can. it is the best color and cleans up real nice (Just because it's a beater it does not have to look like crap!)

1991 Camry wagon should suit your needs. Plus it should be right in your price range. I have a 91 4 cyl sedan banger and I luv it, we had a horrible winter in NYC last year and the Toyota never failed. You also have if you can find it the opinion of a V6, but the 4 greats very good mpg.
