my mistake
Ok so the excitement got to me before doing my homework. I should have used my common sense instead of ownership and finances. Heres the deal. I bought a 2000 s2k new formula red. I love it. This isn't a complaint and I have read the other post so I know what to fix. Problem is:
I don't think a glass rear window soft top could fit on a 2000. But they made it fit. It looks perfect on the outside. However, since its my daily driver I'm almost deaf because of the wind noise on the freeway and rattles on the door jams etc. So I'm looking for a hard top. I don't believe i can make this soft top fit or reduce the noise. So any suggestions would help.
It doesn't end there. After reading numerous postings on the CEL maintenance light. It freaks me out a bit. Since it has been 5 months and I haven't recieved my CA DMV plates yet, the dealer says my car needs to be smogged in order to recieve the plates. I'm no idiot, to know that it should have been smogged before I bought the car. I guess thats what I get when I buy it from a shaddy small business dealership. (hmmm i guess you get what you pay for eh?) I go back to the dealer for the smog and he proceeds to tell me that I need a new "brain" or computer for the car. Is that true or is he bs-ing me. I took his answer to an authorized CA smog station and they said it was crap and to report him. I need some help whether to believe him and get a new "brain" free of charge or to go to someone who knows what there doing. The thing is my maintenance light isn't even on. Also, I'm not sure if anything has to do with it but my transmission doesn't shift very smooth from second to third.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated I'm located in the San Diego area

I would post this in the SoCal regional forum and they would direct you to someone who can make the softtop work and not give you the run-around. I am not sure what is involved in smog but a new ECU for the car sounds ridiculous.
Also, is the Light a CEL (Check Engine) or is it a maintanance light? Both are very different. Maintanance light is a light that tells you that you are due in for maintanance according to the mileage/manual.
