my last post...to those who care

Sorry, I needed to chime in. Derryk, you think this forum is an open forum. Please, have you looked at off topic lately. This forum is full of censorship. I'm not going to get into it, because if fires me up, but this place would be better if people would keep their eyes off of posts that know will upset them.
And also, I have a comment about your post about the Z06. I think elanderholm made that post in CAR Topics, which is supposed to be a discussion about cars, not just the S2000. I have no idea what was in that thread, I never looked at it. But if anyone thinks that the Z06 isn't a great car, they are way to GM biased to even talk about.

I don't know about the whole "eliticism" issue...
I think every car group (and board) has some of that. Before I came across the S2000, I owned a 99 Corvette. I thought it was a fantastic car and appreciated its virtues. When I told my "friends" at the Corvette club that I was selling it for an S2000, I got laughed at, ridiculed, etc and I really haven't kept in contact with them that much since then...
Now that I own a WRX, I've seen some eliticism here too... Frankly, I like lots of cars and am intelligent enough to appreciate the strengths and weaknesses of the WRX. Comments like "yeah, but its ugly" pop up, but I must have missed the point where appearance and performance interchange. I didn't buy the WRX because its pretty... But for my going to college (on my nickle) and having a car that I can park and walk away from without looking back twice, the WRX fits the bill. Its a great little car. The Vette (Z06 in particular) is a great performance car. While I certainly don't expect people here to bow down and accept it, there certainly is no reason to flame someone for their choice...
I think elanderholm has made a good choice in wanting a Z06. He had to good sense to try out an S2000 for a while (as did I). The aforementioned Corvette buddies couldn't get past the "but its a Honda" attitude to appreciate the virtues of the S2000...
I know... its the Internet. Maybe he shouldn't have posted about it here... But frankly, I had come to think of this as a community that was something a kin to "hanging out with the guys"... Of course, with my Corvette club, it became hard to hang out with the guys when you don't own a Vette...
Its sort of similar here since I have a WRX... I still post on occasion, but not with the frequency that I did while I was an owner. I'm still an enthusiast though.
Like someone said above... can't we all get along?

There's plenty of elitist attitude around here. All one has to do is start a thread saying "I beat an S2000 in a 1/4 mile race with <insert any car here>." The post can be totally objective and you could have the Supreme Court rule that it was a fair race, but you better get your Nomex out.
There are levelheaded people who don't flame back, but you'll find that there are an abundance of posters that need to comeback with one of three responses:
1. "are you nuts? there's no way a Miata could ever beat an S2000 and even if it did, I'm still driving an S2000 home"
2. "of course your 911 Turbo is going to win, you paid quadruple the price of my S2000 to go just a little bit faster"
3. "well let's take this race into the canyons and we'll see who can handle the twisties AND go fast at the same time"
Honda's engineering and marketing people should all become lawyers because they have convinced 8 out of 10 S2000 owners that the S2000 is the end all of all cars on the planet. It isn't the fastest. It doesn't handle the best. It isn't the cheapest. Maybe it is the best combination, but lord if you even try to say something even remotely negative about the S2000's performance this board will attack you like a pack of starved jackals.
Erik's post doesn't help at all. Just look at all the people telling him to get the **** out. What kind of crap is this "oh, you don't like my car as much as your car so get the hell out of here" attitude? All the dumbasses felt the need to chime in with some stupid comment.
I can't even imagine what kind of morals these people have here if they get their panties in a bunch when someone makes a non-positive comment about the S2000. Some people take it so personally it's unbelievable. What happens when something actually bad occurs as opposed to someone insulting your car?
"It's the Internet." That is a lame excuse. Everyone wants global peace. That's got to start somewhere. If you don't, please leave the planet. Do your part to make this world a better place to live.
If assholes with the quickstart flamethrowers would just pause and think about what they're about to incinerate maybe we'd have less bullshit on this board.
Keep the discussions civil.

I'm sorry someone feels that way.
Although I'm relatively new to the board I feel very much at home and cannot understand you feeling the way you do.
There are many different people and many different threads. Not all threads will appeal to all people.
You just follow what you like and leave what you don't ....
Enjoy your car
