Default is my insurance trying to rob me? lol

I went yesterday to my insurance (freeway insurance) and asked the lady that I was planning on buying a 04 s2000, gave her vin ect. and wanted to know price on insurace, before i drive 400 miles to go pick it up, and my previouse civic is covered at 40$ per month but when I went to go ask about the s2000, she quoted me 290 per a month with 500$ deductable for a full coverage, and I was shocked, i had asked why and was expecting around 200-230, but she said due to being a sports car and convert.. im 21 with 4 years of driving with a license , clean driving record. any ideas who gives the cheapest in price for insurance or is this what i should be expecting to pay for being 21?

I pay about that for full coverage with Geico every 2 months. I'm younger than you with an OK driving record. But I think its expensive since its an AP2?

The car will not be payed off, i do plan to put down 6000 cash as a down payment, so i cant go to liability, nor would i want to , due to this being one of the newst cars I would have. but 290$ seems a little too much, my brother 23 also went for a quote on his 08 tsx and he has a few speeding tickets ect, and they told him 160$, im debating on rushing into buying this car, or should i wait and save a few more $$

If you want full coverage on an s2000 and your 21, its going to be expensive no matter where you go. I doubt youll find too much cheaper but it doesnt hurt to look around.

Well i still plan on looking around , hopfully something cheaper pops up, but the quote was just me doing insurance by myslef, they did tell me 260$ if me and my brother both do multi cars on one insurance. 260 is beter than 290 but I still want to aim for 230$ or less.

Danwolski is it just you in the insurance, or are you linked with your parents? 165$ per a month is a steal, whos your provider?
