i was driving in my dad's hummer with my ex and we passed a miata.

I remeber when I had my 00' and removed all H badging...I had a girl approach me and said...so, how does it feel to have her' revved up to 9,000?? I wanted to marry her...

of course you have to understand her, because everyone has their own opinion. BUT, the vast majority of people who know a lot about cars will not agree with your girlfriend that the S2000 is similar to the Miata.
