Just out of curiosity. Who starts their car like the way mentioned in the quote? I start by putting key in, turning it, clutch in, then push red button.

I start my car like you too... kind've bizarre to do it another way.

there is a cool item that came with the car that shows you where the dipstick should be, its called the "Owners Manual", for those of you too young to remember what a owners manual is, its a bunch of paper pages bound together into what is called a book, you open it and read it, the letters printed in the book make up words and they read just like letters and words on the internet.

And absolutely, temperature will affect the battery which would explain why it would not start and then start after the temp warmed up.

Hints why some cars come with cold weather packages that include battery warmers.
