Wait, did I miss something? OP said he found it on s2ki.com. Is that not the site we're on? Does the previous owner have nothing to do with this happening?

Didnt this exact same thing happen like a year or 2 ago? And not running a heat shield by the battery of a turbo car is a turrible idea.

That really sucks. I am glad you are ok. Hopefully you get your way with insurance.

Please update us when they determine the cause of the fire. It would seem a fuel line was ruptured in some manner, but how and why?

That sucks... especially on the trip back from purchasing the car.

I doubt anyone other than the OP will be considered at fault though. I mean, if I smell fuel to the point where I have to roll the windows down, I don't keep driving. I pull over, inspect what's going on... ESPECIALLY with a modded car. This goes with burning oil as well...

Hopefully the insurance covers you.
