I drove a frigid Boston winter with S02's, but would recommend snow's if at all possible. If there's even a slight dusting of snow, the S02's are useless, but on plowed roads, the car is driveable, but not in a sporting way in any means.
Some tire places will store you off season tires if you buy a set of tires from them. I'd be weary of swapping tires and look for a set of used wheels with snows. There's been several posts, and maybe you can find a friend's house to store them at?

snow tires are a must for thes2k in driven in winter, the SO-2's or RE-050's for the MY04 quickly lose traction in snow, the snow just fills up in the tread.. which is not a good thing...
invest in some good snow tires (Blizka LM's) and you wont have to worry about traction loss as much
