I was able to hear it in person, and it definately changes the sound. It's not raspy, but more of a solid, low-toned sound at idle and pre-VTEC. I don't know how to explain it, but it sounds expensive. It doesn't have the annoying resonance from most of the aftermarket exhausts too. The exhaust note goes away after VTEC cam change because the engine gets so loud everything else becomes mute.

The stock was too quiet for me and I tried the HKS and could not take the drone. I have ridden in numerous cars with great sounding loud exhausts and am really sure I would hate it in a week. I have the Mugen which has more volume and character than stock (and saves 26 lbs.) but will not make you deaf.. and more than one person at the track have mentioned to me how cool it sounds when I pass them.

The sound is bassey at low RPM (not annoyingly boomy at all). At WOT, it makes the car sound great and isn't obnoxious or loud. It's just right. The exhaust is quiet enough but you do notice that it's definitely not stock, especially in a garage complex.

I drove abzug's car and mugen exhaust sounds stock even with mugen header. If people are saying there isn't really any power gains, then just remove spare and tools to save weight.
