Hey all I'm thinking about purchasing the modifry camera mount for the dragon but I was wondering if the camera will pick up a lot of wind noise with where it's positioned?

Can any modifry camera mount owners shed some light if this is an issue? Thanks in advance

I just put a small piece of duct-tape over the microphone, yes, it seriously mutes the sound, but you CAN hear the engine, tires, etc. over the wind noise, which is about all the noise you get otherwise.

Is this Modifry mount a sturdy/strong setup? Or is it shaky?

I have a similar mount on my S2 and the wind isn't bad. You can see an autoX clip on my Myspace site (without having to have an account.)

And yes, I know that run is horrible, I wasn't really trying at that point.

I have used it on the street, but always with the top up. A lot of cameras have an input for a external mic and when used, disables the internal mic. If your camera does this, you could buy a cheap external mic and route it somewhere low in the cabin to pick up talking, engine and tire noise, but eliminate wind noise.

If using an external mic, a good place to mount it is on the center of the dash, as close to the windshield as possible.

I just got this mount; tried it today with my Panasonic GS300 and it's quite shaky. :\ I checked my install and everything seemed tight, but will double check it again when I have time. Hopefully the problem is rectifiable.

I have the Modifry mount and have been happy with it. However, I have replaced the panavise mount with something more sturdy (Manfrotto). I also have a mount that is lower in profile but not adjustable to try and shoot below the rear view mirror.

My current video camera is very compact. I had a Canon GL2 but it was overkill for me. Plus, it was heavy.

Before the Modifry mount, I removed the wind screen and put the Manfrotto in one of the mounting holes. With the GL2, it was a little shaky but not too bad. I actually like the camera mounted to the side a little as it helps dodge the mirror.

I have some small mics that have worked well on a mini-disk recorder and should work on my new camera as well. Haven't tried them yet though. The compact camera (Sony) has its mics on the top, the worst place possible for wind noise. Tape did not seem to minimise the noise much on this camera.
