Default Model Year Differences

Hello all,

After a couple-year hiatus, I am back on the forum and contemplating purchasing another S2000. Due to getting married a few years ago, I had to let go of my '02 model. I am now back in a good position to purchase another S2000, and I am curious about a few of the postings I have read regarding differences that went into effect with the '04 model year, in particular with a "red-line reduction". Can anyone elaborate on whatever changes were made when moving to the '04 model-year. I must say that there was nothing about the Vtec on my '02 that I would have changed, and it worries me if there were any detrimental effects on performance.

I appreciate any insight those of you may be able to give me between these year models. I mainly need to decide whether to purchase new or to look for a "like-new" 03 model.

Thanks in advance for any comments.

-Marc

You really don't need a search to find this info...

auto.msn.com has it...

The sticky at the top of the forum has it...

Thanks for the post,

The msn site does not get specific with differences from year-to-year, unless I am missing it somewhere. Also, the sticky at the top talks about earlier years and not the 03-04 model changes. I tried searching the forum, but had no luck, so this post is to ask current owners of the two models what those subtle differences are. I know how in-depth the owners on this forum are, given the fact that I was quite a fanatic myself at one time.

Regards,

Marc

This has been covered over and over and over on this site.

If you refine your search you will find multiple threads dealing with those issues.

I love it. The newbies are telling you to search.
From what I have read here, the 8k red line and Vtech cross over point change the way the car feels. As reported by an owner that has owned both FC20 and FC22 cars, the MY04 transitions to Vtech is less then the MY03-. Many of the other MY04-05 changes have been Mod'ed on the early MYs.

I'm finally starting to find them now. Earlier today I was having problems with the search function (I don't know whether it was an issue with my computer or server-related), but I have finally gotten to the good threads. Sorry for reposting a dead horse...

Something I had never read anywhere is the 04 has a micro switch or something to prevent sidestepping the clutch. I found this out from the service manager at Kuhn Honda in Tampa Florida, the worst honda dealership in the world (butt holes).
