From what everyone has stated, gears are your best bang for the buck. but you may want to ride in someoens car or drive a car that has gears before buying them. from what i hear some people like them, some dont. but i personally would get gears first, then down road get headers & vafc

If you commute in the car or do a lot of highway driving I would not do the gears. If the car is a weekend driver for fun then the gears would be great. All the other mods combined amount to almost nothing on the S2000 except a large investment in cash. I drove a 01 with gears and it is a nice difference however as mentioned its not going to be for everyone. Cruising RPM is already high.

i'm leaning towards the gears. my s2 is a daily driver, and i have more than a few miles on the car, but it runs like the day i bought it, over two years ago. i think if the car is not overly abused, it will last for a long, long time. i mentioned i have nitrous in the car, but i rarely, rarely use it. most cars that i have driven when going 80-85 mph's are at half of the car's rpm's (before red line), and if the S is below v-tec, i don't se the harm, but i rarely drive above 75 mph. i'm not like most people, trying to keep miles off the car. i bought it to have fun in it, and not waste it on trying to preserve the car, but i do take good car of it (if that makes sense). if i get responses that the gears will harm the car because of driving at higher rpms more often than most of the owners, then i will reconsider, because i value the advice of this board. i'm not too worried about my comfort, because i sacrificed that when i bought the car. the thrill makes up for it any day of the week, and twice on sunday. it is really important to me that i get advice from you guys, as much as i can.
thanx.

ya know, if you're that concerned about the high RPMs, there are other gear options that are not as "extreme" as the 4.77s. the 4.3 might be a nice balance between more low end oomph, without having the RPMs too high when you're just doing hwy cruising.

p.s.-- oh yeah, do a search for a recent thread by Big Ben on your gear options.

did a search for the big ben forum, but i got a billion different results....i dont think i will go all the way to the 4.3, but i'm seriously taking the 4.57 on the Rick's site into consideration.

gears are the best bang for the buck mod you can do. i'm about to start running 4.77's, but i also don't do a lot of highway driving where i can hear it can rev pretty high. 4.57's are also a great choice if you don't want to go that extreme.

nothing against the site sponsors, but hey, a cheaper price is a cheaper price.
