Talking Missing 10 hp

my understanind is that japan gets a 250 hp version of the S2000. I know our smog is brutal but anyone know where the extra 10 hp went? photos of the exterior of the engine appear to be about the same as ours...if it is only in the computer then can this be changed on our cars? any opinions?

I thought JDM S's had 246hp and it was because of .1 more compression? Also the point for more compression was for something about gasoline standards there?

I remember seeing something about how Japan uses different Octanes then we do.

Also, the Celica GT-S in Japan also has about +10 hp compared to the US model.

actually JDM compression is 11.7 which is .6-.7 higher than USDM. That is why they have 7 more horsepower + torque. And alot if it is because they use higher octane gas. More octane, less risk of detonation, more compression possible.

So... am the lucky one here!

But unlucky at the same time, since Europe is more expensive than the US.

Oh FYI 11.7 compression is still JDM only...EDM is still only ~240HP and TQ same as the USDM 2.0L. The JDM engine probably has greater output for both gas and pollution control reasons.
