Missing 10 hp
my understanind is that japan gets a 250 hp version of the S2000. I know our smog is brutal but anyone know where the extra 10 hp went? photos of the exterior of the engine appear to be about the same as ours...if it is only in the computer then can this be changed on our cars? any opinions?

actually JDM compression is 11.7 which is .6-.7 higher than USDM. That is why they have 7 more horsepower + torque. And alot if it is because they use higher octane gas. More octane, less risk of detonation, more compression possible.

Oh FYI 11.7 compression is still JDM only...EDM is still only ~240HP and TQ same as the USDM 2.0L. The JDM engine probably has greater output for both gas and pollution control reasons.
