Default Minor Vibrations - What is this?

I have been experiencing minor vibrations while releasing the clutch in 1st gear at start... they are very small and accompanied by occasional rattling...

Has anyone had this, and/or is it something I should worry about....

doesn't seem REALLY bad....

thanks for any response

Jim

I assume you're talking vibrations of the engine. In that case, you might wanna let the RPM rise higher before shifting into 2nd gear.

Sound like clutch chatter; not good. If it is could be the rear seal leaking oil on the clutch disk causing a bit of slip. Another cause is a glazed flywheel. To many high rpm launches?

This link might prove helpful.

I recently have experienced a loud rattling while de-accelerating in gear. It seemed to be coming from the driver's side of the engine compartment... like 2 metal sheets rattling together.

Could this be a clutch problem? It only occurred one time (for several miles) but I am sure it will be back.

I have this rattle too, I just bought mine the other day. I haven't launched it from the start or raced or anything yet. I hear this rattle and it sounds like it comes from underneath the car in the back. It sounds similar to what you hear when you shift to 2nd in a really low RPM but you shouldn't hear this in first from a smooth normal take off.

No, I have never had a hard launch nor ever slipped the clutch. These vibrations or rattles only happen when it is a slow take-off in 1st gear, maybe too slow and releasing the clutch gingerly from a stop light in traffic... or when leaving my garage. These particular vibrations feel as though they are directly linked to the throwout bearing area. I can only presume it is a small craft, and weak (light) clutch system.. I also have rattles when reversing into my garage.. more in the rear, but these are isolated to reversing.

jim,

I get a slight hesitation and rattle when the engine is cold and I'm pulling out of my garage. Not sure if this will help, but I usually just give it more gas and it disappears. Also, it doesn't happen when the engine's warmed up, only when cold.
