Minimum Upshift RPM?
Hi Folks -
I know most of us probably don't drive our S2000 conservatively, but IF you ever do, what's the lowest RPM you upshift at?
My '03 owners manual calls for upshifting at about 4000 rpm in each gear, so I'm wondering how closely everyone adheres to that recommendation....
Thanks for your input.
Bob

With the AP1's longer gearing, the manual of an AP2 may suggest a different rpm to upshift at. I haven't paid attention to the minimum possible, but if the car doesn't bog, you should be fine going lower. I'm sure 3,000 would be fine. If you want to go lower, try going down in steps of 500 rpm at a time and see what happens.

I only use reverse and 6th gear. No shifting.
I shift at like 2500 when the car is cold and after its warmed up 4500-5500.

3500rpms for 1-2, 2-3, 3-4, 3,000rpms for 4-5, 5-6 shifts as minimum. Any less and your lugging the engine unless your going downhill. Shifting at 4,000 rpms accelerates fast enough to keep up with most traffic off the line without having to give it extra throttle (lugging).

hah, what's the point?
saving 1.35mpg and driving slower than traffic? camaan...
seriously, I shift between 3.5-4krpm. the motor was designed for use in higher rpm, drive it correctly.
