Miles Per Gallon

Always calculate based on a complete tank. Do the math using the miles driven for the tank and the amount of fuel used to fill the tank. Partial tank measurements will always be off though I've never seen one quite this far off.

Do you smell fuel?
I had a mouse bite a hole in my fuel supply line below the fuel rail and I was literally POURING gas out when the car was running...could have ended up burning my S2000 if I hadn't caught it early! F***king mice!

Seems to me that one likely explanation for the fast rundown from full is that you were on a slight incline when you "filled" the tank and there was a large airspace at the top of the tank on the side opposite the filler. If it wasn't completely full to start, then you would have seen what appeared to be very rapid fuel consumption. Just a thought.

i checked and no smell of gas. ill have to jack up the car to see whats wrong, or take it to a mechanic. with the gas prices i specifically drive slow and im still getting screwed-___-
WHOAH!! thread mistake sorry. i meant i wasted a quarter. not have a quarter left!! THATS HORRIBLE! SORRY FOR THE WRONG INFO!

^^In that case, then I have to say that yes, that sounds about right. My fuel gauge starts to lower from full as soon as I hit 30 miles and by 125 I am at the halfway point. However, I use the miles driven and tanks filled to calculate my consumption as mentioned earlier. I still get over 25mpg (have a test pipe which helps) shifting before 5k and hitting vtec once or twice a day.

Finish driving on that tank, fill all the way up, divide miles traveled by gallons used. Anything else is unlikely to be useful. If we assume your fuel gauge is entirely accurate (unlikely) you would be getting in the high teens by your description. That is not unreasonable for city driving, but do a proper calculation and see what it REALLY turns out to be. If it is unusually low we can help you find potential causes.
