Mid-range power?
I'm looking to add a little additional mid-range power (4000-6000 rpm range)
Can this be done without sacrificing top end power?
Some ideas I thought might work were:
1. Lowering the Vtech engagement point.
2. Headers/Exhaust.
3. CAI.
4. Different gearing.
???????
Any other ideas or input on the above items?
Thanks

IMO, the stock S2000 is a very well balanced car to drive. Changes made to enhance one characteristic only tend to degrade another characteristic. The beauty and uniqueness of the S2000 is in the way that it develops its power at such high Rs.
In the end, performance mods will all be satisfying in one regard, and also dissatisfying in another, leaving you questioning what mod you need to do next to make the overall system/package more satisfying. It is a never-ending trail.
Why not leave well enough alone, and accept the S2000 for what it does well.
If you feel you would like the feeling of more torque at lower Rs, I would suggest that the best bet is to pick up a second car that develops its power that way. Then you can enjoy both cars for what they are, and avoid a never-ending "upgrade" path that is a dead-end when it comes to resale value (and always forces you to compromise somewhere else).
Kind Regards,
Chris
