I'm shocked that he was able to hold on to an impact gun that was applying up to 600ft/lbs of tq to the axle. Along the same lines, I'm shocked that the axle broke before his grip on the gun did!

1. You should take out the reference to the s2ki member since he has no involvement in the story. It might be confusing in future searches.

if he was able to break the axle while holding his impact gun, your axle was already weak and he did you a favor by breaking it now then instead of some night when you were a hundred miles out of town. The gun should have ripped from his hands and maybe even his arms out of his shoulder sockets before the axle broke.

What do you mean he broke the axle? Take a picture. I dont believe it just snapped.

Where did it break?

The way you have phrased this is comparable to saying... "Discount Tire over torqued my lug nuts and my wheel broke. What does that mean?????

I do not think he used 600 lb/ft. I dont think he knows how much force was in that gun, he just blurted 600 lb/ft because he was nervous he broke my axle and he didnt know what to say. He just went Rambo mode and torqued it w/out knowing the force. Then he tried to claim he used 150 lb/ft by pointing at the PSI in his compressor. 150 PSI does not equal 150 lb/ft torque.

I personally think he used 380 or 400 lb/ft, (craftsman high impact gun 1/2 inch) but that doesnt even matter. What matters is that he torqued an axle nut Rambo style, which is very negligent. If mechanics torqued things around that way they would break shit left and right.
