Default Map Sensor

A week ago I suddenly had a problem with acceleration hesistion/stumbling right around 7k rpm in all gears (well at least gears 1-3). Searching through the trusty S2ki board I quickly found threads with similiar sounding problems all pointing to the map sensor. So I followed the recommended procedure of tapping the map sensor a few times with a screwdriver and disconnected/reconnected the cable to it.

Well this solved the problem completely...however my S2000 comes out of std warranty in a couple of months and now I'm wondering if I would have been better off taking it to the dealer while it was malfunctioning so I could have gotten a brand new part. Does its misbehavior once indicate that its starting to go bad and should I now expect frequent problems with it or have others who have had to resort to pounding their map sensor had the problem stay fixed?

Thanks...

The map sensor costs $43.82 from H and A...not really an expensive part, should it go bad.

Is it recommended to reset the ECU (by disconnecting the battery?) after changing or tapping on the MAP sensor?

My car has not exhibited any high-speed hesitation but it does seem to "stumble" when the engine returns to idle while its cold (even with 3 bars on the temp gauge).

My car used to do this but has stopped hesitating above 6k, the only thing I have had done was the dealer TSB on the spark plugs. I don't think the two issues are related.

Where is the MAP sensor located, incase it happens again?

Thanks! Last time I did a search on this topic I didn't find that very helpful picture. Glad you pointed it out.
