Woa for an engineer (and i am also one) you are making some serious conjecture based on a small sub-set of the population.

I agree that they have some drivetrain TSBs out there but using the word common could make it sound like 75% of S2000s are affected. I, for one, do not believe the number is anywhere near that magnitude.

this discussion and siper's response have helped me make up my mind about the nature of this board (don't dis the s2000 - it'll impact our sponsors) and what to do with my substandard vehicle.
it's been a great ride, but it's time to move on. honda has lost a customer for life - that much i can promise. heh, like they care.
i just feel sorry for the sucker who buys my car. 25K (tops) is what i'll get. cute car though.
so having said that, i will have the following items available soon:
honda car cover (flannel)
ragtop liner (grey)
spoon x brace
limited edition poster (framed and matted)
the s2000 book
front and rear OEM brake pads - in the box
lots of little s2000 toy cars (the autoart is the best)
email if you want any of this shit.
a hearty thanks to all, and press on!

My car is completely stock. Has never been to the track. It's a daily driver (less five weeks and counting now....) I will occasionally leave someone in my dust...but the car should be able to handle that. It is not abused. I still like the car, and I don't plan on selling it right now - as I don't feel like taking a big loss right now. Paid cash for the car. (mistake #1)
As for those who on this thread looked for excuses for the car's problems.... I think that perhaps if yours had been in the shop for over five weeks for repairs, you might think differently....
The discouraging thing is that almost two years into the US selling of this car, evidently they still don't have major bugs fixed...and they don't seem to care.... My dealer has been great, although the mechanics I question. (based on first repair, or should I say non-repair)
