Thumbs up Major *CREAK* from rear when body twists

This just started happening this week for no obvious reason (didn't hit a major pothole or anything like that right before I noticed this happening). Could be the sweltering temperatures but I would think hotter weather would soften things up and mitigate the creaks.

Anyway, when the car twists (most apparent when turning into entrances with steep angles that cause body torsion), there is a major creaking noise coming from behind me. I really don't think it's coming from the top structure. I'm pretty certain the creak is coming from the body.

Is this a somewhat common problem? If so, is there a certain area in the rear that is the weakest link and is susceptible to this? Just want to narrow down where to have the tech/Billman250 look. Do I need to have metal re-welded or lubricated? Aside from the annoying and embarrassing aspects when I carry a passenger, I'm concerned that the body might be weakening after 7 years / 150k miles. Never tracked the car, never had frame damage.

It only happens when there is body torsion.

I have the same thing. After jacking up the car and checking all the bushings, control arms, and wheels I came to the conclusion that it was my suspension. If you have a trusted mechanic take it and have them check it.

Yea I will have Billman250 take a look. Not included in the list of things you checked, do you think it could have been general weakening of the frame in the rear? If that's the case, probably no easy way to check unless you started taking apart everything.

could be the panels behind the seats?

mine does the same thing when i go down my parking structure ramp in the morning. not that its anything major, but its annoying nonetheless. i just attribute it to my car being stiff.

Well I did a visual inspection and I also used some large pliers to check the bushings. I would also consider checking your axels, cv boots and diff just to be safe.
