Unhappy Majestic Honda Wire Transfer?

I just tried to order all the parts to rebuild my clutch from Majestic Honda. After receiving the order confirmation and an email stating the status had changed to processing from new I received another email. This email stated that since I had placed an expensive order (~$1k?) that I needed to email them so I could set up a wire transfer. I thought this was suspicious as I've never had an online retailer, of any sort, request such a payment method. I called the phone number listed online and was informed that this was the new procedure for all high dollar orders (again, $1k?) and that I didn't like the new policy I could order elsewhere. Has anyone else had this experience lately? They seemed to indicate that this is a new policy.

I could see them making the change, a lot of companies are getting hit with fraudulent chargebacks due to dishonest people.

Can’t you just split the order up and use a card? I’ve never heard of a wire transfer either. I was going to order some headlights from majestic in the future but it only comes out to be $900 for me

I've never ran into this issue with various parts dealers, it maybe done for new customers or just standard procedure there, because of scammers. You can still file a claim with your bank, but it involves more work than a card/paypal claim.

I would recommend using Transferwise, it's cheaper than your bank.

Contact the main number. Ask to speak to someone in the main office about wiring funds to Majestic Honda. Get a name. Ask them to explain their wiring procedures and to email you the wiring instruction for this transaction. The instructions should include the bank wiring information. The instructions should have some sort of anti-fraud warning, telling you to call a specific number at Majestic confirming the wire information / bank information before the wire is sent.

Dealing with buying and selling cars, they must have established procedures. Still if a computer is hacked, it is quite easy for a wire to be misdirected. Deal with the office, not the parts department, over the phone. The fraudsters will use an email message that looks legitimate.

In my office, we instruct the client to call a specific person to confirm the wire bank info and amount prior to sending the wire.

I could have split the order up but decided to go with a different vendor since it seemed like a bit much especially since I've ordered from them before. I've ordered many different things online and I've never been asked to wire transfer money which seems way less secure for me personally.

I suspect none of the on-line Honda parts places stock much of this and several if not all use the same diagrams, etc. You order from them and they order from Honda or other distributor rather than tie up money in stock. The front lower spoiler I bought from Majestic a couple years ago was ordered by them and shipped from Honda in Marysville, Ohio, to them in Rhode Island and back to me in Cleveland, Ohio.

If you googled the site, be SURE you went to the correct site. Double check the address bar. Look for the lock. It could be a close knockoff that will rip you off.

I also happen to like BKHondaparts.com. I found the prices to be the lowest, just slightly, than anywhere else.

I just spent >$1K on parts including the clutch stuff. They were able to get some parts that are unavailable on most Honda sites: Specifically the inboard joints or "cups " on the rear axle (drivers side is the worst) that can get pitted and cause vibration.
