Maintenance that should be done on a 2000 S2k?
Hi all, I recently picked up a silver 2000 Honda S2000 with 20k miles on it.
The only maintenance that has been done are oil changes, and it was last done a year ago, but the car has been driven less than 1000 miles since then.
What's the general rule on replacing fluids if it's been in there for a long period of time, but the car hasn't been driven much? When I check the dipstick, the oil is pretty clear.
I plan on replacing all fluids in the next month or so, but I don't know if I should be cautious with pushing the car until then.
So here's my list of to do items:
- oil
- trasmission fluid
- diff fluid
- air filter
Anything else that should be done?

You are on the right track. The coolant is type 1 and should be replaced, oil, trans, diff, HEPA and air filter. My biggest concerns would be the TSB history https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showforum=145 with spark plugs being the number 1 concern. The early ones could back out, over-heat, fall into engine . . . ker-blam-o. Make sure the top goes all the way down, if not replace the elastic straps with the ones Modifry sells and maybe use a rolled-up towel in the rear window when you put the top down to keep the plastic from getting a hard crease. Otherwise, wash and wax her, treat the top and interior to some 303 and Lexol. Browse the forums and FAQs here with emphasis on Under the Hood, Wash and Wax, Wheels & Tires, Racing and Competition, and S2000 Talk. You have made a great purchase and are in the right place. Enjoy!!

How old is the gasoline in the tank? Without a stabilizer gasoline that sits for several months will start to make a varnish that can coat injectors and fuel lines.

With it being a 2000 with only 20K... flush and bleed the brakes, glycol based brake fluids are gonna draw moisture over time and cause it to turn that nasty brown color and cause rust in the lines, air in the lines, etc... Flush em n bleed em

I'm finding annoying little electric gremlins, for example the driver window doesn't go down all the way if you press the window switch fully.

Take a good look at the tires, especially if the original OEM tires are still on there. Also your battery is probably on its last legs if it is the original.

I'd say:
Engine oil (Mobil 1 10w-30 IMO)
Diff (Almasol LE1605)
Transmission (Honda's new MTF)
Brakes (ATE Super Blue fluid)
Air filter
Cabin filter (Seriously, this thing can get NASTY)
Windshield washer fluid (just top up if needed)
Shin-Etsu on the rubber bits of the soft top
Spark plug recall (new plugs and new torque spec)
Tail light recall (some faded and became non-compliant with DOT regs)
Seat belt recall (tensioner can sometimes make it difficult to pull out. I've never had it done because my seatbelts work fine and I don't want some monkey taking out most of the interior to fix it.)
Tires (if there's any cracking from age, or they're down to wearbars)
Air pressure of spare tire
Battery (mine lasts three years in Texas heat)
