Default maintenance

my S2000 is nearing 60,000 miles, its at about 57, XXX miles right now and my maintenance light just came on yesterday. My question is, should i take my S in to get serviced if so, what servicing is dont at 60,000 miles. or should i just get the light turned off and not worry about it.

The Maintenace Required light is just a reminder to change your oil. You can reset it yourself by following these instructions:

From the immortal xviper:

To reset the MAINTENANCE REQUIRED light (As indicated by the light that says, "MAINT REQU'D"):
- Have key inserted in ignition but in the OFF or LOCKED position.
- Push and hold the trip reset button on the right bottom corner of your gauge clutster.
- Turn key to full ON position and continue holding the button till the light goes off.
-(This part has been added for those who are impatient or who have the light only at the "blinking" stage and not yet solid.) KEEP HOLDING THE BUTTON FOR ABOUT 30 SECONDS TO BE SURE OF A POSITIVE RESET. Or maybe just be patient and wait till the light is on all the time before doing this.
- (Some manuals may be a bit off in that they do not tell you to turn the key to the ON position.)

mine is nearing 60k as well. im at 594xx. I going to take it to the dealership for the major service. I believe that is what is expected at 60k. Call your nearest Honda dealership and ask what they do. I believe they do transmission fluid flush, oil change, differential, and lots of inspections. Price ranges anywhere from $300 to $400+. Call around to get best price.

Why pay the dealership that much for so little? Buy a K&N air filter for 50 bucks, air cabin filter for 20, oil filter for 7, 6 quarts of oil for 26, and a 3 dollar can of silicone spray. Pick up some tranny fluid if you're feeling really saucy for 17-20 bucks and a piece of tubing. Change the air filters, your oil, Jack your car up, do the tranny fluid and clean all rubber boots and spray the down with silicone and wipe it in really well.

You've just performed the service for 100 bucks, learned how to do some work on your own, and it'll only take you 2-3 hours if you're taking your time

You can also check your brake pads - you'll need two wrenches and a C-clamp to do this. Easy stuff! Check out the DIY section

As mentioned above, you can do all that maintenance for FAR less than $300. I believe there is a DIY on each item mentioned above, or find a shop you like that will do it for cheap. The last time I had my tranny, diff, brakes and clutch fluid all changed, my guy did it for $30. I brought him all of the fluids and he only charged my for 30 minutes of labor.
