"magic" fuel gauge - creates 1/2 tank of gas!
I saw this in the past but kinda blew it off because it never happened to me... and now it's occured the past 3 tanks of gas in a row.
For those of your unfamiliar with what happens, here's what it does:
1) Have half a tank of fuel remaining
2) Gas gauge shows 1/2 tank
3) Look down 10 seconds later, gas gauge shows 100% full tank
4) Gas gauge returns to normal at an accelerated pace... after about 10-15 miles it'll be back to where it's supposed to be.
Is there a TSB for this? It's not a critical problem or anything just a little annoying.

Happened to me today after driving around a 360 degree on-ramp. Not sure if it's related or not because it's never happened before. After another 5 miles of driving, the fuel levels were still 50% higher than they should've been.

hmm... I thought this was more common among S2000s.
Luckily I know how many miles the car can go before it runs out of gas (I fill it up at or around 250 miles everytime).
It doesn't seem dependent on acceleration, decel, or lateral g load in my car. It just happens when it feels like it. I drive my car hard in the mountains and it hasn't done it there so I dunno...

Never heard of this problem before. Actually, the guage in my S2000 is very accurate, at 1/2 of a tank on the guage I have very close to 1/2 the miles on my trip odemeter that I get during one tank. The only issue I ever see is that the last few bars seem to go quicker. Overall I'd have to say the guage is very reliable in my 2002.

It could be several things. It's probably a bad wiring connection. There could also be something in your tank, but I don't think that would accomodate the increase in fuel shown. A bad sending unit, or a loose connection is probably the cause.

I think there were a couple of board members with a similar problem... although I think nearer to empty tank. There was a rusted tank sensor or something that needed replacing.
