Lowering the seat rails
Having read the post on lowering the driver's seat by drilling new holes and repositionning the front bolts and hammering out the rear I am a little loathe to try it because it only lowers the seat and not the seatback. I worry about 1)the ensuing comfort of the seat with the seatback out of position; 2) getting the seat completely level. The hammering in part seems like it would be difficult to be precise.
However it did make me look under my seat alot and I noticed the seat rails are very high off the floor of the car and are bolted to raised anchor points (if I can call them that) on the floor. I was wondering if anyone lowered the whole seat by either somehow lowering those anchor points or by modding the seat rail to be closer to the floor? I realize the rails can't be lowered all the way or the seat won't be able to slide back and forth, but it seems to me at least an inch could be gained this way and that's all I need.
