Well. The rear naked choke idea is a good one. But if you look at the wheel where the knuckle broke. There is no damage to the wheel. But the guy who was driving drives an 11sec miata. I'm pretty sure he is used to the power and RWD. He runs two speed shops here in STL. So the jury is still out.

I'd check the tires for any kind of impact marks and come back to him and say, "Look bud. It's pretty clear you got out of control a bit and broke my car. Now step up and fix it."

well, one thing to note:
metal that eventually breaks due to fatigue looks much different from metal that breaks due to impact stresses. the former kinda folds out and stretches, the latter just cracks straight through.
looking at the pics, I'd say that knuckle broke suddenly and catastrophically, which can only be due to an impact of some sort, probably in a lateral direction (that is horizontal, not vertical).
