Well. The rear naked choke idea is a good one. But if you look at the wheel where the knuckle broke. There is no damage to the wheel. But the guy who was driving drives an 11sec miata. I'm pretty sure he is used to the power and RWD. He runs two speed shops here in STL. So the jury is still out.

The rim looked bent, to me. Also, did you check the inside of the wheel? What if he somehow went over a curb, or straddled an island or something, and the impact actually hit the inside of the wheel, instead of the outside?

He spun your car into something,

If he can afford an 11 sec miata he can afford to replace your knuckle, wheel and fender.

OH no doubt. I'm not paying for this, you can believe that. Whether it be directly or higher insurance premiums. He will pay. But, it's not that simple as a new knuckle wheel and fender.... it requires alot more.

just because he can afford an 11sec miata, doesn't mean he knows how to drive. and b'sides, everybody f*cks up once in a while. he just did it in your car. that would all be understandable and perfectly forgivable except for the bullshit he's feeding you so he can stick you with the repair bill.

I'd check the tires for any kind of impact marks and come back to him and say, "Look bud. It's pretty clear you got out of control a bit and broke my car. Now step up and fix it."

well, one thing to note:

metal that eventually breaks due to fatigue looks much different from metal that breaks due to impact stresses. the former kinda folds out and stretches, the latter just cracks straight through.

looking at the pics, I'd say that knuckle broke suddenly and catastrophically, which can only be due to an impact of some sort, probably in a lateral direction (that is horizontal, not vertical).
