What's keeping you from changing your oil in the fall and the winter? It takes 10 minutes to change the oil yourself.

Normally I change it the end of October and then put it away.
It does not come back out until the end of March.
I could change it out again in March but then I would just be throwing out oil with no mileage on it.

The problem is your oil filter could fail in 10,000 miles without changing it.
Amsoil sells a compatible oil filter, designed to work with the oil change interval.

They also state that this is only if you're doing 25,000mi PER YEAR. I doubt many (if any) people here put 25k a year on their S2000.
Yeah, I noticed the Amsoil filter just posted says it is guaranteed for 25,000 miles or 1 year.

change it in the fall so your oil doesn't have acids in it that accumulate over the summer months and sitting all winter long. Clean oil sitting in the winter won't harm the engine, as mentioned above condensation will burn off quickly on the first drive and clean fresh oil has additives to deal with it just fine.

perhaps my experience is of some value...i have a 04 and drive about 8-9k a year(49,600 on the clock so far), i also drive in winter a bit, no snow here, however the most miles are put on from april through november.....i change the oil twice yearly, either at 6 months or 4000 miles. i am not religious about exactly when but that is the average.

my car is 7 years old in nov of this year. i have no issues and have never used any oil, or enough to move the mark and add. i change with costco obtained chevron brand 10/30 wt oil and use a new filter each change, either a honda filter or a k&n or some reputible brand name.

Why change it twice? Just once before storage

How long do you think the shelf life on oil is? It takes millions of years for the earth to produce.
