I feel the same way. I wish I could afford to get a beater but I can't. I think I would really enjoy the s more because it would be something to look forward too after driving a piece of crap all week.

I'm with you on that one.

But how much would it suck being in your beater, and seeing another s2000, or if you get challenged by something that you know your S2000 will destroy.

I'm with moddiction on this one. No point in garage queening the car when it still loses value whether sitting in my garage or being driven and enjoyed. Every time something breaks on the S, it's an excuse for me to splurge and upgrade XD. I bought my S with 69,000kms on the clock and it now has 123,000kms in about 2 years?

The trick is to not buy a "beater," but instead buy a nice DD. I finally have the best of both worlds, something nice and cushy and relaxing to drive M-F, and a sweet sports car to hoon around in on the weekends.

I am not concerned with losing value. It's the cars value in my mind that prevents me from driving it every day in traffic. With my S2000s mileage and age, it wouldn't take too much to total it...and the total loss check wouldn't be enough to allow me to buy another.

That's why I have a Civic to take those bullets, and it has. Twice.

I plan on passing my S2000 on to my kids some day when they can appreciate the true spirit of driving. At that point, the actual value of the car has no meaning anyway...so that value can drop through the floor for all I care. I am driving this car until I die.

The S is the car I knew I had to have since I was in 6th grade when the 2000 was introduced. Mine has roughly 120K which is substantially higher than the average, but it's alright with me as my daily commute is quite long. Unfortunately, I am not financially ready to own another car, but when I graduate, the S will be retired of DD status, and at which point I will have another car to take on the daily duties. I know it's a cliche thing to say, but I honestly have no intentions to ever sell this car, which is why I disregard the rock chips plastered on the front bumper or the wear it has accumulated over the years. It will all be fixed eventually.

With my dream all motor honda setup being a k20/k24 frank, I'd be too tempted to mod that tsx if it were mine. I love k series.

Drive it while you've got it. Life happens and you may not have the car as long as you expect. Plus from the sound of this post there is a very high probability that you're going to dump it in a ditch or into a pole within the next year or two.

This being said, I still drive my car A LOT. I just try to make the drives more pleasurable than just my commute. I feel like I love my S so much that I need to drive it a lot.

Not likely, I drive it relatively sensibly. You telling me you don't give your s a bit of shit now and then? Why buy one then?
