Love the s2000 but...
I know this is a honda board however, please try to understand where i am coming from
Here is the deal.. i am a Corrado enthusiast but i sold my corrado for a S2000, i miss the corrado but LOVE the way my s2000 drives, the convertible, the 9k redline, RWD etc..
I have been presented with the oppurtunity to trade for a
93 Corrado VR6 SLC 73k mi
Fully built turbo motor at about 500 whp
6 speed swap
LSD
Straight cut gears
amazing sound system
Standalone
the works.... about 40k invested
Basically the Corrado i allways wanted to build but couldnt afford (except it is green ugh...), this is a once in a life time deal however
However i have my 2003 S2000 which is Convertible, reliable, fun AS HELL, gets TONS of looks, RWD (a biggie for me)..
On one hand i can ALLWAYS buy another s2000 down the road, and to build a corrado like this would cost TONS, and its unlikely that another one will surface like this.
The other hand is i love the drive of my s2k, the RWD is a huge plus, the looks i get from girls is nice too not going to lie lol, but doesnt make or break my decision.
What would you do in my situation, i am honestly torn between the convertible and my passion, i LOVE these cars more than any others i have owned?

If you really like Corrados then go for it.
Like you said, you could always get another S2000. It shouldn't be too hard to find an unmodified used one later down the road.
They're still making S2000s so there won't be too much of a shortage...go for it.

question 1: is the s2k or the corrado a daily driver?
question 2: are you ready to deal with the incredible hastle of having a car break down on you?
question 3: can you afford to fix a broken down corrado?
Here's the thing. Would a 500 hp car be cool? absolutely. Is it going to be reliable? no way. Think about how many parts are functioning on that car, and do you trust the person who built the motor, tuned the car, and installed the parts? Even if you do trust them, there is something to be said for understanding the roots of the car. The problem with buying a heavily modified car is you have no idea when it's going to pop. Have you done a compression/ leak down test?
The s2000 is not an insanely fast car. However, it's fun to drive, RELIABLE, and will hold value vs. a 500 hp VW. If you need more power, save and turbo it.
plus your girl doesn't want to ride in a 93 VW

Never understood the fascinations with Corrado's (or any vw's for that matter) but I know their fans are pretty die hard.
IMO 500 whp is too much for a FWD car .

and its not something you can understand, only something you can expierence with the corrado.

The main thing I'd be concerned with would be reliablilty. As was already said, who knows how well it was put together and how hard it was beat on. If its gonna be your DD i'd say stick with the S. 500hp sounds pretty darn nice, but its on a fwd car.

I love the Corrado, one of THE cars to own -- 10 yrs ago.
I'd say no. Keep the S, you already love the S. The Corrado will just keep breaking down. The car's not the most reliable to begin with, and then you boost it to 500HP....
I have a very lightly modified MKIV GTI (just a chip and wing in the back for looks), and it's not the most reliable car. It's not terrible, but not rock solid like Japanese vehicles generally are. Plus they're more to fix b/c the parts are more $.
