Details first...
Honda world in Downey is refusing to do tsb-54/55 on my S2K because 1: they say they cant recreate the problem (though it happens regularly), and 2: when they checked my vin, the only tsb I qualified for was 78. I bought my S in mid 2000, and thought all 2000 models needed this fix, I am sure mine does. I also went to family honda in RSM, and they also refused to do it after checking the vin.

And my question is...
What exactly does tsb-54/55 do? Since honda won't do anything, how can I fix it? Would a new clutch disk do the job?

A few thoughts on family honda...
I had them do tsb-78 since they are so close to my house, and when I got the car back (after a 9 hour wait for a job they said would take 3 hours, making me miss a whole day of work) it had a new interior rattle, which they said was not their fault. I had asked them to check the #4 cylinder issue, but when i talked to the mechanic who worked on my car, he said the only work they did under the hood was to change some fluids and filters. I specifically asked them not to wash my car, they did anyway. Now my S2K is covered in the swirl marks (which show up really well in black btw) I have been trying to avoid.

In closing...
Family honda is evil

"phone the zone dude, the number is in the back of your owners manual. i try to be very polite with the zone folk, as they make things actually happen. "

will do

"the local dealer here in tucson gave me no shit whatsoever in doing the TSB's - they had not heard of them, but they enjoyed the billable tech hours."

Thats what confuses me about the whole thing, I told them I would gladly pay to get the fixes done whether they thought I needed them or not... I guess they didn't want the money.

Fisch, as usual, is right. Contact zone. Ask for a referral to a service department in which they have confidence. They referred me to Weseloh Honda, in San Clemente. Their work is decent. They ask you when you first come if you want them to wash your car. I told them no, and they've never gotten it wrong. Their number is 949 493 9300. Ask for Tony in service.

BnB-S2K-

sorry to hear that Family dropped the ball so badly. i have been a pretty big proponent of them on this board, but to be honest my faith is slipping.

we have had a number of small issues with my fiance's CRV that they have screwed up and/or made worse. i have some leverage with them because i bought 2 cars from them in such short order, but bringing problems to the service manager's attention is getting old.

the prob. is that family is so damned convenient for us. still, i worry about the sloppy work done on the crv transferring over to my baby.

i would be very interested to know how weseloh treats you. i have a buddy with a 97 prelude that loves that dealership. can't say enough good things about them.

keep us posted and hope to see you on the road.

you may wish to wait on tsb055 as it DOES NOT fix the 2nd gear grind.
It fixed mine.

I got it done within a week of the tsb being released. Quite some time ago. It was one of the first cars to get it done at my dealership. They took 4 days and put their two top techs on it. They replaced the clutch also.

I think in honor of honest Honda service departments, we should hold the next big meet at Weseloh Honda, not Family Honda.

Hey Fisch,

What exactly is your problem?

I said it fixed mine. JUST MAYBE your dealership did not perform the fix correctly as I understand it is somewhat exacting. If you notice I said my dealer had it's two top guys doing the fix on mine and they spent 4 days on it as they had not done one before. The guy I use all the time said they wanted to make sure they got it right and they both did mine so they would be familiar with it in the future.

As far as the other crap you posted above it sounds like you have some real problems and I will not respond to your baiting.
