Those who think that quality is amiss on later models crack me up. My CR is a zero defect car, at 3500 miles so far, nothing nada, zilch. To compare it to AP1 is rediculous. You will always find similarities, but it is the differences that make the CR unique. CR is built on the Honda F1 inspiration, that is also fact. Have a good day!

[quote name='fltsfshr' date='Jan 1 2009, 04:30 PM'] No I was pointing out that the F1 connection was lost long ago with a plant change and a model change.

Yes, that's how hunda likes to advertise. F1 ------> s2k thing sounds great to car buyers.

hunda can build great sports cars with or without F1, or any kind of racing.

Without F1 honda just needs to find another way to say their street cars have the latest and greatest under the hood.

him preaching to the peanut gallery that the ap2 is basically a pile of crap because it dosent rev to 9k and wasnt built on the same plot of ground as the ap1 is "pretty much valid?". i'll chalk that one up to you not reading his above post.

fltsfshr
then whats with the negativity about the ap2 being "subpar" as you have pretty much stated in your first post?

He provided tech to support his point of view, you resorted to name calling. Man up and provide tech to prove your point

[quote name='RFCR' date='Jan 1 2009, 08:24 PM'] I guess from what you said, the AP1 has all this or nearly all this and so the CR is nothing much more than a re-engined and rebadged AP1. You crack me up. I guess they both have four wheels so that makes them the same

CR
Firmer springs and dampers
Stiffer front and rear stabilization bars
Quicker steering ratio
Larger rear P255/40 R17 tires
Bridgestone Potenza RE070 tires
All-new 17" dark gray 5-spoke alloy wheels
Fully functional aerodynamic front and rear spoilers
Yellow and black fabric
Yellow-stitched seats, shift boot and steering wheel
Spherical aluminum shift knob
Removable aluminum hardtop
Body-colored roll-bar cowlings
Sport-tuned exhaust silencer
PERFORMANCE FEATURES:
Skidpad pulls .95G
Slalom speed 71mph
Coefficient of lift reduced approximately 70% over original S2000
Over 2-seconds per lap faster around Japan

Putting quotes around words that he never used only makes you look more foolish. He never said Sub-par. He said they moved production of the S2000 away from the plant where Honda made its NSX and F1 cars. In his opinion, that is when the tie to F1 racing was lost with the S2000.

He then went on to state that the CR was a back-to-basics approach taken by Honda; stiffening up the car again, quickening the steering ratio, etc because the car became more "user friendly" in its AP2 form.

Yes, there were additional improvements added to the CR which include stickier tires and better under body aerodynamics but the main mechanical underpinnings were much closer the the original design than the current AP2 is.

He chose to present his argument with valid backup. You chose to call him an idiot.

This is stupid. Most of you guys are just Arguing/debate between ap1 vs. ap2? LOL, think about it. In the end, nobody win.
