Loss of F1 team end to S2000 lineage
#21
Those who think that quality is amiss on later models crack me up. My CR is a zero defect car, at 3500 miles so far, nothing nada, zilch. To compare it to AP1 is rediculous. You will always find similarities, but it is the differences that make the CR unique. CR is built on the Honda F1 inspiration, that is also fact. Have a good day!

hunda can build great sports cars with or without F1, or any kind of racing.
Without F1 honda just needs to find another way to say their street cars have the latest and greatest under the hood.

Wow, that's uncalled for. No need to call fltsfshr an idiot especially when his point is pretty much valid...

No I was pointing out that the F1 connection was lost long ago with a plant change and a model change. The proof is that to get back to it's design roots they created the CR which is basically an ap1 with an ap2 motor.

him preaching to the peanut gallery that the ap2 is basically a pile of crap because it dosent rev to 9k and wasnt built on the same plot of ground as the ap1 is "pretty much valid?". i'll chalk that one up to you not reading his above post.

[quote name='RFCR' date='Jan 1 2009, 08:24 PM'] I guess from what you said, the AP1 has all this or nearly all this and so the CR is nothing much more than a re-engined and rebadged AP1. You crack me up. I guess they both have four wheels so that makes them the same

then whats with the negativity about the ap2 being "subpar" as you have pretty much stated in your first post?
He then went on to state that the CR was a back-to-basics approach taken by Honda; stiffening up the car again, quickening the steering ratio, etc because the car became more "user friendly" in its AP2 form.
Yes, there were additional improvements added to the CR which include stickier tires and better under body aerodynamics but the main mechanical underpinnings were much closer the the original design than the current AP2 is.
He chose to present his argument with valid backup. You chose to call him an idiot.
