Going that slow I believe the VSA would have corrected for you despite the gravel.
I was at a track day at Sebring after it had rained and I took turn 1 (a fast, wide left too fast. I countersteered a bit late and the car was already sideways but the VSA managed to snap it back into line.

But yes, without VSA I would have probably did the 180 spin and hit the curb.
