looking at an s2k
this saturday im going to look at a 2000 s2k with 85k on it.
im getting the car for 10 grand pending a test drive and thorough lookover.
Is there anything with these cars that i should specifically look for?
thank you

Not sure about KBB value, but the price seems kind of high. I've seen a 2002 with similar mileage go for around $10,000 recently, though it had been in a small accident (repaired, clean title) and the top wasn't great. Winter prices should be cheaper, though I may be wrong. Someone will probably chime in.
P.S. For what to look for--there are lots of threads (stickied too I think) that are huge checklists and give you a good idea of what to look for. I'd recommend looking for a 2002 or 2003 if you're going for an AP1.
P.P.S. I remember reading something along the lines: check the oil. If it's low just walk away. Or something like that.

look up edmunds.com they have a true market value appraiser.
things to look out for though is maybe signs of an over rev. the s2k is naturally noisy but you should be able to tell if somethings wrong.
check to see if brake and clutch fluid has been changed or is dark as night.
look for yellowing of the headlamps
ask when he changed the tranny and diff fluid.
and im sure some other s2k owners will chime in with suggestions.

it'll be difficult if this is your first time driving the s2000...if possible get someone who's had one to come with you to point out some of the...."flaws".
Remember that 2000 had a lot of TSB(service bulletin), and although that 10k$ is somewhat cheap....don't forget about the repair costs afterwards.
The best thread to look at is the "S2000 Library" and look at the service bulletins.
thats my opinion...if possible get an 02 though

^ How is that car cheap..ifs in an auction? If it SOLD for that price it would be cheap...but anyone can start an auction at even a $1...does that mean that will be the end price of the car?

2005 s2000 (Suzuka) = 41k miles @ $13,100
2004 s2000 (GPW+TAN) = 55k miles @ $12,300
