Thanks for posting that Triple-H. I went ahead and ordered some. When you placed yours, did you place it under the bar as well, or just slightly infront as the picture shows.

I was planning on placing it under the bar with extra material both in front and behind the bar so it will rub on the new material only.

I think if we file down the rough parts on the metal frame, and put on extra protection on the roof, our roofs should be in good shape indefinitely.

If you feel around for the sharp part of the frame, it can be covered with a relatively small piece of adhesive-backed felt to protect the top. A small piece about 1/2" square does the trick.

How do you get between the top and the bar? It is so tight i can't get anything between them..

This is the exact same stuff I used! Only I added adhesive backed velcro on top for extra thickness.

The Tear-Aid shown above can be purchased at any West Marine boating stores (where I bought mine).

Adhesive velcro patches can be purchased at just about any auto parts store (I bought mine at Advanced).

1. Cut the Tear-Aid pieces to fit, cover every wear spot on the interior with them (these even make the top waterproof it the hole is all the way through).

2. Cut velcro pieces to fit (make them a little bigger all around so the adhesive has contact area with the top and the Tear-Aid material), and cover each Tear-Aid piece.

3. Park in the sun for a few hours. The Tear-Aid conforms to the vinyl top MUCH better with heat. A blow-dryer may work well too.

Best part is, the velcro matches the top color so it's very difficult to see! I've been driving like this for a while (I put 5 patches on BAD wear spots), and it's held up to plenty of top-down driving and Florida summer heat.

It might actually work with just the velcro strips, but I wasn't sure if my holes went all the way through, so I wanted to be sure it was watertight.

Good luck!

dude I put this tear-aid Type B on for 24 hours..followed the instructions, next day when i put the top down it scraped it off, was very easy to pull off so i did just that. Any tips for another application?

Like I said in my post above, I added adhesive-backed velcro strips (the soft side) on top of the Tear-Aid. I cut them larger than the Tear-Aid pieces on all sides so they would have contact with the top itself also.

After application I let it sit in the summer sun for a few hours. I've put the top up and down 50+ times in the past couple months and they've held up fine.

When I applied the Tear-Aid and the velcro, I squeezed each piece between my hands (one hand inside the car, one hand outside on top of the roof) REALLY hard to make sure they stuck.

Good luck.
