Default The long drive home

Greetings! After doing some checking around, I have found that I can buy a 2002 for MSRP. The thing is, I will have to drive about 1100 miles home from both places. This seems like a great break-in time to me, but then again I am quite new to the community and may be naive about this.

What do you all think about such a long drive home? I mean wear and tear during the break-in period. I'm not concerned with the length or comfort level of the car, just the car itself. Any tips about the drive home would be appreciated!

Thanks for the input, and this site rocks!

Until the engine is "broken in" don't drive at the same RPM's for long periods of time.
This is very important for the moving parts to "seat" properly.

I drove mine home ~600 miles. Varying RPM's and keepng it under the recommended RPM's for.. well, okay so I didn't make 600 but 525 was close enough, right? =)

I dont see a problem with you doing this. Where are the two S's located?

I drove mine over 1600 miles home. Was very careful for the first 100 miles and then just varied the rpm/speed.

Sure you can't find this somewhere in the neighborhood here?

I know someone in LA that went all the way to NJ to get his car and he drove it all the way home. That's close to 3000 miles. No adverse effects on the car at all. One advantage that you'll have is that you won't have to wait very long to VTEC, since the 600 mile break-in will be about halfway through your trip.

I got mine from Herson's Honda in Rockville MD. They sell it at MSRP. Did you check it out?

Why not take the long way on winding roads?

Sounds like a fun adventure.

I used my trip to Thunderhill (c. 700 miles) to break in my new s2k and haven't had any problems (about 3200 miles now).
