Local member's car attacked by dogs...
#29
I'm a "car guy" and a "dog guy." I know that dogs can go insane, just like humans can. I once visited a friend who had a St. Bernard dog, who had been just as friendly as could be. I was driving my pickup. Almost all dogs really like me. But that St. Bernard came after me like I was dinner. And, I was able to prove just how fast an old man could get from the ground to the roof of a pickup! Well, I left, but later learned that this dog had thereafter attacked others, and had literally become insane, and had to be "put down." The owners later discovered that insanity was running rampant in the bloodline of their dog. My dogs (big and little) are kept in a securely fenced back yard, when they are not in the house. That's the way it should be.
Pitt Bulls are a breed wherein individuals sometimes just go wild and do crazy things. Some cities in my state are trying to ban them, but are running into constitutional problems, even though dogs of this breed have actually killed some kids around here -- without provocation. I would never own a dog of that breed. The St. Bernard incident was a rare and freaky thing, associated with one blood line of that breed. Pitts are just too unpredictable to have -- and I mean all of them.
I hope the owner of this s2k has comprehensive insurance. And I further hope the police find the owner of those dogs so he can recover from the owner -- even if a lawsuit is required. I'm a bit familiar with Atlanta and know there is a law there against letting dogs run loose. And, yes, knowing what I know about Pitts, I have no doubt that this story is true.
