Help!!
Every blessed wheel mfgr out there claims that their wheels are "lightweight", but I've seen variations for our cars as low as 14 and above 30 pounds each. Of course, the majority don't even tell what the weight is. I do understand that a 16" wheel would weigh less than an 18" one, but come on - surely they could give us a weight for a particular size?
First - what do our factory wheels weigh?
Second - assuming I got 14 or 15 pound wheels, how much actual performance gain could I expect? In other words, is it worth the HUGE cost for four new wheels?
Third - Any recommendations?
Thanks

It's probably not worth the huge cost of the wheels...but then again, you don't want heavy wheels either.
volk TE37 18x8.5 for the rear weighs 17 lb., but you really can't put a wide enough tire on it (if your car is lowered) to beat the grip of the stock setup.

Thanks guys - do appreciate the info. Not planning on changing wheel size - only trying to figure out if a lighter weight wheel was worth the cost.

If you're racing and you want better suspension behavior then lighter is better (unsprung weight) independent of whether or not the wheel mass is centralized. What bums me out is my old Integra GSR factory rims were as light or lighter (14-16 lbs if I recall), okay they were all 6x15" too but...
