Yes you would have to drill two holes wherever it is you decide to mount the plate holder. I've yet to do it, and am weighing my option. I did however mount it on with tape just for reference and it looks really good. Now I just need a good day to get it done.
post pics when finished, i wanna see how it looks.

i would like to see a pic of the evo setup. from the idea i have in my head, couldnt you bend the tabs or whatever the screws go through to allow it to screw into the bottom of the bumper? or maybe even use bolts and nuts and extensions to allow you to screw into the black undertray? rather than painted bumper?

Would something like this work with the lower bracket in the grill/duct area in our cars?

Or something like this?

There are a bunch of these on ebay, and I'm tempted to pick one up.

would you mind posting a pic if you can? As you can see people want to see, and i'd like to see where you mounted it.

I'm sorry I am not sure what you mean exactly.

I will say that I took the time to find a good mounting point tht I liked, and the holder will not work without some modifications. Cutting and shapping of the top portion is involved to get it to sit flush without having the edges away from the bumper.

I tried the grill and zip tie thing and it didn't look good. I bought the Rick's holder, but am holding off installing it until I 'have' to.

Mounting it in the grill will not greatly affect the water temperature. You guys have no idea about overheating until you have owned a FD.
