Default Left knee hitting steering wheel

Good morning all,

After owning the S for a few months, I still have some occasional rough shifts due to my left knee hitting the steering wheel thus forcing an uneven let out of the clutch. My seat position is set fine. My right leg is comfortable because of the location of the brake and gas pedals and I also have plenty of headroom (6 foot here).

The main issue is the height of the clutch pedal compared to the other pedals. I am going to adjust the clutch pedal this weekend to remove the little bit of free play, but I think that will only gain me a miniscule amount of space. If I understand correctly, you can't change the height of the clutch pedal to move it towards the firewall, gas, and brake pedal.

I have also thought about seat rails, but I don't know how much that would help.

Does anyone else have any recommendations? How are all you other tall people dealing with this?

Do you have the seat all the way back?

You can do seat rails, aftermarket seat or a smaller steering wheel.

Im 6'2" and my knee would occasionally hit but I never found it a big deal.. We're all different though. I now have an aftermarket seat and wheel with loads of room.

The problem I seem to have with seat position is:
At its current position, everything is comfortable with the exception of my left knee. However, if I move the seat back one notch, then my left leg is slightly too far away. (no slight bend in the knee when clutched is fully depressed). Ideally I need to have the seat in between the former and later. This is another reason I considered rails.

If you don't mind me asking, what rails/seats did you get?

A suggestion is if you use one of our flat bottom OEM steering wheels you will gain some legroom.

We've had quite a few 6'2+ guys come through our shop with this complaint so this is what we did for them:








Similar in design and shape to the VGS wheel, we can change the color and materials to suit your individual tastes

While that steering wheel looks awesome, I don't think it would solve the overall problem.

As Hunterangel said, it would still be an issue while turning. I've heard rails could help... just don't know which would be the best.

As others have said, aftermarket seat rails will help.

The top of the clutch pedal should be even with the top of the brake pedal, and this can be adjusted so your assumption is false. You do not want to remove all of your free play to achieve this, you want to adjust the master cylinder rod to adjust the pedal height and pick up the added slack with the top out switch and get these balanced in a way that you have not only an even pedal height with brake, but that you are getting as much master stroke as possible with the minimum free play needed to insure your not riding the pressure plate and wearing out your clutch. As the clutch disc wears in any car, you will start to take up free play, so its important that you keep an eye adjustment as you put a lot of miles on the car. If the pedal is so far out in order to maintain any free play at all , then that is an indication that your about out of clutch disc material and be prepared for a replacement sometime in the near future. If you want to feel what a perfectly adjusted clutch pedal feels like in an s2k, drive my car.

There is only one type of aftermarket rail that works with the stock seat and its made by backyard special.
