^Yes, The problem with LED's are that they are usually a concentrated beam. A old-school "bulb" is more of a wide overall light. "Good" LED's can be made to be wide angle and those are the ones you should purchase for turn signals, dome lights, license plate lights...etc, practically most applications should be the wide angle LEDs. some companies "cheat" by putting a bunch of LEDs to fan out so they get the "wide angle" look.

the "license" bulbs won't work because LEDS are highly directional. basically you will only light up the area right in front of the bulb.

irv, if you read my post you'll see that its a design detail. all you need is the right type of LED (im assuming its a different housing which acts as a lens..) that spreads the beam..

Well i've seen a few in person, and the whole plate was lit up, so im going to have to disagree until mine come in the mail.
