Happy Holidays GUYS~!~

Well, I have gotten tired about my leaky trunk today (and i've only owned this car for 1 week) and decided to take out all of the interior of the trunk. I have taken pictures all over the trunk. Those of you who have fixed this problem already, please copy the image and use paint to circle which area is problematic, and how to fix the trunk leak. I would want to do a DIY for any future s2k trunk issues. All helpers will be noted on the DIY.

Please give a helping hand, I have dried up the trunk and left newspaper there to see where the leak was coming from. The funny thing seems all of the water seems to start from the middle and starts expanding. Weird b/c only the trunk is about that part. But any help would be great, please let me know what you guys have done regarding the leaks in your trunk.

i remember reading a post about water entering through a hole above the license plate... check around there

above the license plate leads to the rear bumper does not seem to lead anywhere into the trunk. There was something on the site that referred to a vent? Please someone point it out.

Check your gasket to your rear lights, that may be your best bet, I fixed afew cars like that at my old job.

yea i checked the gasket for the rear tail lights already.

Are there any places where water will come in b/c of the top?

I'm not sure how water would get up in here, but when you remove the bumper cover, there definitely is a trunk vent. That's the black rectangle (it's a flap) below just above the left bumper.

I think the point of this is to allow air to blast out when you push down the lid.

Take some detergent and a rag and clean the rubber seals really well. Then lay a thick coat of Shin-etsu or other quality silicone grease over the seals. I think you may have a leak where the trunk decklid meets the rubber seal.

I believe you could be right. I saw some condensation on the actual trunk door (decklid). I will take a better look at it next time. I'll let you guys know.
