Ok guys, this is my first manual so I'm new to all of this. When you talk about revving the engine to 6k-7k RPM and then side-stepping and the popping the clutch...I think I get it but I'm not sure. My question is when revving the engine up, do you have the clutch pedal all the way down, or is the pedal like half way up at the "engagment" point? I tried searching but came up with too much to handle, is there a specific thread that goes through all of this?

Its called dumping the clutch. Basically you rev with the clutch depressed, get the revs to the point that you desire for a rapid start, and then pop the clutch out. I don't recommend this if you desire any longevity for your clutch or tranny.

JiggaTaOG,
I wouldn't bother with sidestepping the clutch...there isn't much room down there.
Sidestepping the clutch = Put half...or part of your foot on the clutch (holding the clutch down). Slip your foot off of the clutch and let the clutch spring up.
When popping the clutch...just hold the clutch down all the way...rev to desired rpm...and jump off of the clutch as fast as you can. Don't come off of the clutch too slow...or you will burn it (smells bad).

Hm... I tried "popping" the clutch. Didn't work, instead I spun my clutch, wheels didn't move and got an awful smell... There must be more to it then coming up quickly ...
Any suggestions?
