Those shots were way cool! Did you launch like this often? If so, how did your clutch and diff, etc hold up? It looks like you know how to launch the car correctly so I was just wondering.
I was thinking about doing a vid with a videographer who can tape such a launch with cameras in various location on the same run - run tire, tach, shifter, foot pedals. However, I've just viewed the "Best motoring" vid and this has already been done. I guess I'll save on the clutch and tire rubber.

Wow. I can almost smell the rubber and the fuel!
What Octane fuel are you using with that sky-high compression ratio? Mmmmmm high octane fuel... Love that smell..

For what it is worth, I have a Nikon Coolpix 995 camera that I absolutely hate with a passion. If you want a camera that you can turn to auto and take a couple simple pictures this is not for you....without setting up the camera specifically to the environment you can forget about getting even a halfway decent picture out of it (especially on fast-moving things). My friend's el-cheapo can't remember what brand 200 dollar special digi cam totally owns mine.

A battle of digital cameras?

I wouldn't say Nikon is the best, although they do have one good model. I'd rely more on Canon and Olympus. They make the best digital cameras, in my opinion, and I myself own a Canon Powershot G2, which Cnet.com rates as the number one semi-pro camera, hehe. Even so, their other powershot series ranks high on the charts.

OT, but do NOT get a Sony P-71! It's a decent 3.2-megapixel camera (for the price - ~$400), but at full res (1600x1200) the pics are so gosh darn blurry! It's not because I can't hold it still; even when it's on the tripod and set on timer, it's blurry as hell! I even returned my first P-71 thinking it was a lemon , but it's the same with my 2nd one! Arrghh!

What do you guys think about the Sony's? Are they worth it? Or did I just pay for the name?

What camera can you guys recommend for an amateur (18yrs here) that runs about $500?

I know this is way off-topic, but pretty much all posts (except for the first 2 or 3) in this thread are off-topic, so...
