I am taking 2003 in the pool. I know, I know you think there are 2004+ but everyone knows that, at least in North America, the last year for the S2000 was 2003, after that it became an S2200. But, since someone had already done all the printing...

Production stop of the S2000 fall 2007;
New model with V6 on sale end of 2009.

Why?

S2000 years are always in 2 years, so the MY06-07 is the last one and the MY08-09 being the ghost car;

As with the NSX, I think there will be a no successor time so people will not wait for the new one to come out and postpone there buy;

New model in 2009 since Honda exists 10 years longer at that point than the first S2000;

V6 because the NSX gets a V10 and like all the cars they get at least 2 extra cylinders.

Yesterday I was eye in eye with a new Aston Martin DB9 in the fastest colour, and if Honda is not going to upgrade the new S2000 with a V6, I will be saving for the new baby Aston, because it is ASTONishing, like the S2000 in a different league

I could care less when they stop production, as long as they bring it back improved. I have my '02 and love it.

What I really want to see is a more direct relationship with the Formula 1 program. After all, the S2000 was designed as a halo car for Honda, a celebration of its racing achievements. The F1-esque dash, the driver-focused cockpit, extraordinary redline.

The amount of money Honda is pouring into Formula 1 is staggering. They will, in essence have two Formula 1 teams next year as well. As you have witnessed in the past few years, they have steadily crept up on the leaders and even shown signs of greatness. And the fact that they will not let Takuma Sato go shows their commitment to the program and their commitment to get a Japanese driver's chamipionship. They are in it for the long haul. A manufacturer's championship is on the horizon in the next 5 years. Mark my words.

That being said, and assuming Honda has success in the next few years, it will want (need) to showcase its success and technology. Regardless of the debacle that was F1 at times this past season, F1 is growing popularity in the U.S. like crazy. Honda WILL need to celebrate its racing involvement.

I would love to see some sort of 2.4 liter V8 to reflect the new engine specs. A 10,000+ rpm redline would be nice as well. This could be one hell of an engine. Small displacement V8s are very smooth if not super torquey.

Honda, end it while it's hot and give us something even hotter!! I'll be ready for a new one by then!!

First, I seem to watching your signature for long periods of time and I would like to say thanks!

Second: I would pick 2008 as well for either a major redesign or model cancellation. I have a feeling it would be reborn in roadster form but probably with a different number designator and perhaps as a higher priced but with greater performance machine.

I'm really at a loss over people's obsessions with ultra-small displacement motors--ie all those "the NSX's v10 will be 3.5L" retards--do they all realize that the only reason the motors are that way is because the racing regs are defined in terms of displacement. If someone was building a race car with no limitations I would wager that they would not be using a low displacement motor. Why? the weight difference between a 2.4L and 4.0L v8 need not be very large, so why make a car less torquey and powerful than it could be? Redline bragging rights? I personally think 9k is plenty high.

2007 will be the last production year for the current S2000. After that they will either make significant changes to the engine to keep up with the horsepower war.....or they will concede and discontinue the current S.

Either way..... 2007 is the last year of the current S2000 as we know it....
