Post Knobs and Boots

I was checking out the shift knobs and leather boots on Rick's site and I had a couple of questions.

1.) What style voodoo shift knob best compliments an AP2 interior? Why is the titanium shift know so much more $$? Is it really THAT much better?

2.) Do the countersunk voodoo knobs really improve the shifter feel? If I'm buying a new knob purely for mechanical (not aesthetic) reasons, will I be happy?

3.) Is it worth upgrading to rick's leather shift boot since the AP2 already has a leather one? I will be getting red and black interior so I think a black leather shift boot with red stitching would look fantastic. Is it worth the money?

Thanks guys and girls

Best,

Jim

1. Purely preference... I'd go with anything except the polished one cause it gets cloudy quick..

2. The countersunk reduces the throw which may feel better for you but the throw is already short as it is.... The issue for me is that the aftermarket knob, if it's not as heavy or heavier than the OEM knob it doesn't "feel" as good to me. The extra weight of the knob really helps the natural "snick" of the lever IMO.

3. I would wait on the leather boot to see what color the seats turn out. If you've seen the rick's in person and you like it.....go for it.....otherwise remember that "red" comes in a lot of different shades and don't always compliment each other...

Thanks for the insightful response, SIIK2NR.

I probably wouldn't get the red leather shift boot, but rather the black leather shift boot with red stitching. I think an all red leather shift boot might be a bit tacky for my taste. How is the quality of the rick's leather shift boot? Better than OEM? If I decided to sell my stock shifter knob and boot, how much do you thinkI could get for it (provided it was in new condition)

Black with red stitch will look good.

As for selling your OEM boot....I'm not sure...... I haven't really seen a market for OEM shift boots but you never know. I wouldn't think it wouldn't replace the cost of the Rick's.

The Shift knob.....there are people RIGHT NOW that are looking for that knob in the WTB section.

Good luck

I bought the titanium knob recently from Rick's. I was highly impressed with his speed and service. I thought I loved the knob until two weeks later when a friend of mine bought the oem titanium one. The oem one fits my hands better. Very good quality on the Voodoo one though. I wish the oem was countersunk.

I'd PM you, but we're both guests. So, if you want to buy my Voodoo titanium, I'd be happy to deal.

i'm interested if you are selling your voodoo knob. is it the magnum or regular one?

i have the pearl in my civic (it went from s2k to civic and back to s2k). i love it, but i'd like to put it back in my civic, and get a Ti magnum for the S. I know ricks has a sale on the Ti Magnum as well

i love that shift knob... never thought a shift knob would make a difference but i feel like it does..

Just responded to your pm.

Rick's only sells the magnum ones now. The smaller ones are done for. So, I have the magnum - no engraving at all.

I have the peral Al normal size before rick's quit carrying them. I love it, the feel in my hand is great. For ricks stuff.

What about the shifter feel? Does the aftermarket knob noticibly improve the feel of the shift?
